Seashore Drive - Honeybun project

My dream destination this year might be right here, at home, with Seashore Drive and Balboa 🌞

💛 Bright pops of colour and holiday vibes in Sherri and Chelsi's Seashore drive and Balboa collections, blend sunshine, fresh sea air and florals - just the kind of holiday I'd love 💛 🌸 ⛵️

The little sayings on this one whisk me off to boardwalks by the sea, sea breezes, collecting seashells on the beach - perfect for summer holiday sewing 💛 🌸 ⛵️

My holiday plans might just include a Honeybun or two. Each one contains (40) precut 1- 1/2" strips - Bliss!

Perhaps a sprinkling of little Ninepatch blossom too...

One of the basic units of patchwork, Ninepatch units happen to be one of my favourites - there's something really relaxing in pairing up the strips, and trying different combinations.

These ninepatch units measure 3 -1/2"

To make 2 ninepatch units from Honeybun 1- 1/2" strips

Select 1 Light and 1 Colourful strip:

Light (Ivory) 15" strip.

Cut: (2) 6" strips (1) 3" strip

Colourful (Citrus) 12" strip

Cut: (1) 6" strip

(2) 3" strips

Tips for making ninepatch units

Using rotary cutter and ruler trim strips to 1 - 1/2" removing pinked edges.

Check where 1/4" guideline is on sewing machine - on my machine its very slightly short of 1/4". If necessary use masking tape to make guideline more visible.

Sew scant 1/4" seam and press seams to the colourful side.

Slice strips into 1- 1/2" units

Pair up

Match seams, I tend to pin as close as possible to the seam, alternatively pin a few mm either side of seam.

You soon have your first ninepatch unit sewn...

Then 2 and 3...... and before you know it a whole flurry of little ninepatch blossom

Both Seashore Drive and Balboa Honeybuns are available in the shop

I hope you have a lovely day, and time doing things you love

Happy sewing Xx
